The Charlottesville Scholarship Program (CSP) was established to assist City of Charlottesville and Charlottesville Public School System employees, Charlottesville High School seniors, and CHS graduates who would like to further their education, but do not have the means to do so.

The Preston Coiner Scholarship was created by the Coiner family in 2015 to honor Preston Coiner’s abiding interest in local history, and to assist local residents in their pursuit of post-secondary education.

Both undergraduate scholarships are intended for low- and moderate-income applicants who are in need of financial assistance to attend an accredited two- or four-year college, technical school, or certification program that upgrades job related skills.

Applications for the Charlottesville Promise and Preston Coiner Scholarships are accepted annually by MARCH 1ST.

In evaluating applications, the Selection Committee will consider academic performance, articulation of educational goals, employment history, life experiences, and any special circumstances noted in the application or references.
