Navigators Program
Our Navigators Program is a unique and important contribution to our students' success.
________________
Navigators are local adult volunteers who work with CSP scholars to help them negotiate the new opportunities and challenges of their post-secondary journey.
________________
The goal of the Navigators Program is to provide an extra source of support, advice, and encouragement to our scholars to help them successfully complete their technical program or college curriculum and obtain a certificate or degree.
________________
Scholarship winners are often the first in their family to attend college and their families are not always able to provide help in understanding college expectations and ways to deal with the college experience.
________________
Navigators develop relationships with their paired scholars by maintaining a dialogue via text, phone, email, social media, or in person, when possible.
________________
Navigators support students by inquiring about their academic progress, and chatting about classes, family, work, college life, or anything that could potentially enhance or hinder student success.
_________________
Navigators may provide advice about time management and encouragement toward long-term goals.
_________________
Navigators support students with reminders about the annual scholarship renewal process, and provide suggestions for summer employment opportunities or internships, as available.
_________________
Today, 23 Navigators are in place supporting 43 CSP scholars.
________________
We ask Navigators for a commitment to their paired student for the duration of that student's course of study, and provide support and training throughout the relationship.

As Scott Morgan, one of the founders of the Navigators Program, has remarked, "I could have used a Navigator when in college. This is a way to implement permanent change.”
